Spectrum News Covers Murdy's Gratitude Project

On the 44th anniversary of the fall of Saigon, Murdy Elementary School held its annual "Gratitude Project" event. The one-hour ceremony was hosted by sixth grade students who welcomed and honored true military heroes who they spent the year studying. This powerful event was a culmination of their year-long study of gratitude during which sixth grade students interviewed war heroes, and created art and writings about what they learned. Many students uncovered details of their family legacy for the first time and gained a deeper understanding of freedom, racism, hardship, bravery, and love of country.
